MOST PEOPLES VIEW ON SUCCESS: ONYX ARVADA OF SCENTURA CREATIONS

A couple years ago I read a book that gave a good illustration of how most people think about success and failure. Then went onto show how successful people view success and failure.

Most people’s idea of success vs. failure:

Successful people’s idea of success vs. failure:

In other words, it’s through failure we achieve success. Here’s a short video that drives the point home nicely…

VALENTINES DAY FACTS AND ORGINS: ONYX ARVADA OF SCENTUTRA CREATIONS

Though Valentine hearts and roses are red, retailers and business owners see the green of MONEY when it comes to celebrating the holiday. Here are some fast facts about the Valentine's holiday*:

•In the United States Valentine's week is ranked number one in regard to chocolate candy sales. Sales of chocolate account for more than $345 million out of the more than $448 million dollars in candy consumers will purchase to celebrate the holiday.

•E-commerce retailers expect to rack up about $650 million dollars selling food, candy, flowers and other Valentine's Day related goods.

•About 15 million Electronic Valentines (E-Valentines) were sent in 2010.

•About 1 billion Valentine's Day cards are exchanged each year. Teachers receive the most cards, followed by children, mothers, wives, then sweethearts. Children ages 6 to 10 exchange more than 650 million Valentine's cards with teachers, classmates and family members.

•Canadians, in 2007, averaged spending $92.30 on Valentine gifts.

•U.S. consumers, in 2009, spent an average of $102.50 on Valentine’s gifts and merchandise. Total spending on the holiday was expected to reach $14.7 BILLION.

•The 35 to 44 year old age group spends the most money on the holiday, followed by young adults aged 18 to 24. The 55 to 64 year old age group spends the least money for Valentine's Day.

•Lastly, and not surprisingly, men spend nearly TWICE the amount of money celebrating the holiday than women do.

ORGINS:
Valentine's Day started in the time of the Roman Empire. In ancient Rome, February 14th was a holiday to honour Juno. Juno was the Queen of the Roman Gods and Goddesses. The Romans also knew her as the Goddess of women and marriage. The following day, February 15th, began the Feast of Lupercalia.

The lives of young boys and girls were strictly separate. However, one of the customs of the young people was name drawing. On the eve of the festival of Lupercalia the names of Roman girls were written on slips of paper and placed into jars. Each young man would draw a girl's name from the jar and would then be partners for the duration of the festival with the girl whom he chose. Sometimes the pairing of the children lasted an entire year, and often, they would fall in love and would later marry.

Under the rule of Emperor Claudius II Rome was involved in many bloody and unpopular campaigns. Claudius the Cruel was having a difficult time getting soldiers to join his military leagues. He believed that the reason was that roman men did not want to leave their loves or families. As a result, Claudius cancelled all marriages and engagements in Rome. The good Saint Valentine was a priest at Rome in the days of Claudius II. He and Saint Marius aided the Christian martyrs and secretly married couples, and for this kind deed Saint Valentine was apprehended and dragged before the Prefect of Rome, who condemned him to be beaten to death with clubs and to have his head cut off. He suffered martyrdom on the 14th day of February, about the year 270. At that time it was the custom in Rome, a very ancient custom, indeed, to celebrate in the month of February the Lupercalia, feasts in honour of a heathen god. On these occasions, amidst a variety of pagan ceremonies, the names of young women were placed in a box, from which they were drawn by the men as chance directed.

The pastors of the early Christian Church in Rome endeavoured to do away with the pagan element in these feasts by substituting the names of saints for those of maidens. And as the Lupercalia began about the middle of February, the pastors appear to have chosen Saint Valentine's Day for the celebration of this new feaSt. So it seems that the custom of young men choosing maidens for valentines, or saints as patrons for the coming year, arose in this way.

BUSINESS MATTERS: ONYX OF ARVADA OF SCENTURA CREATIONS

We are really doing a great job in most areas. The job market has made it so that recruiting in all of our offices has doubled. In certain parts of the region it has tripled. Although it is great to be in the position to have jobs available, unfortunately Scentura Creations have began experiencing a bit of a negative backlash. We have a choice, we can slow down our recruiting and expansion or we can fight back.

It has come to our attention that with the technology of the WORLD WIDE WEB, as great as it is, there is one area that still needs work. That area revolves around unverifiable postings, nameless bloggers, anonymous people with made up events and of course the now infamous, Internet extortion Websites.

We have had such a tremendous response to our recruiting ads we are now having turn a very large number of people a way, even some that we feel would be great additions to Scentura Creations. As you know managing people is a skill and even though it would be great to have 100+ people in our office it is not feasible for most. Due to office size, parking issues and well, just not enough hours to effectively teach and train that many people. Therefore this has posed the first part of the problem. The second part of the problem which is where the negative backlash is taking effect is that some of the people who have not been accepted are a bit upset. The anger they have, we do not feel is because you as the manager has done something wrong but, unfortunately with the job market being what it is, they feel a need to take their anger out on others and well, since you have a job and won't give it to them, then you must be bad.

Scentura Creations are wanting to remain professional in trying to resolve this issue, even though those that have taken a negative stance towards our business, the company and even some of the managers personally have not by any stretch of the word been "professional" at all. What has been brought to our attention are the websites that are primarily "bloggers" venting and they are an outlet for angry ex-employees to vent and trash the company they worked for, the boss, co-workers, etc. these particular websites also encourage it's own employees to post negative things about businesses for more traffic. We have contacted these sites which was very difficult to do, but were told that any untrue posts would be removed once we join their program (for money). Then they would see to it we would get a perfect rating with them. The amount to join is so much because of the size of Scentura Creations, we could pay, but would then have to eliminate bonuses, profit sharing and vacations, of course we will not do that, so we need to educate ourselves and our people about this. We have decided to use our voice and fight back.

We have put more information about this through out this blog, and how to handle the situation if it happens in your office. Please read all the information and pass it along to your office staff, trainees and distributors. We know this is a trivial and yes a very ridiculous situation, but we feel that it needs to be addressed.

We prefer to expose the problem as oppose to ignore or hide the problem.

ONYX ARVADA: PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE AND ORDERING

The search for the best product resulted in the birth of Observé L Éssence line of rendition fragrances. In its combined role as manufacturer and distributor, we enjoy a rapidly growing position within the fragrance industry-a ten billion dollar-a-year business. By maintaining A-Z control over the manufacture of its products, Observé L Éssence line of rendition fragrances is assured its consistent demands are met for the highest quality at the best costs.

The process of perfume manufacturing is very exacting. From the first flower picked to the last fragrant drop, perfection is the single goal. To this end, an international team of the world's most respected suppliers work in collaboration with Observé L Éssence line of rendition fragrances. Raw materials are gathered and processed in Grasse, France known throughout the perfume world for its expertise. The New Jersey mixing plants refine these imported materials. Natural and synthetic ingredients are carefully blended into the necessary fragrant oils. Creative offices in New York formulate a desired scent according to the company's specifications.

Equipped with a perfumer's library of thousands of essences, The "nose" (the inventive talent) has the time consuming task of defining the actual scent. Our company painstakingly analyzes many submissions before accepting a final formula. Stringent quality controls guide the testing and mixing of the actual formula. State of the art testing techniques assure the safety and quality of our fragrances without the need to test on animals. The finished fragrance is then shipped to Scentura Creations in-house filling plant for bottle filling and assembly into the finished product.

The product is now ready for shipment to independent distributors throughout the world! Since Scentura Creations doesn't cut corners in the manufacture of its rendition products, just where do the savings come from that allow Observé L Éssence to be marketed at a much lower cost than other designer fragrances? The Company saves in many ways. Its product line features every popular scent, while continually adding only the latest, proven successes.

Although our product has been advertised nationally on television and in major magazines (see below), our promotional and advertising costs are minuscule compared to those of other designers. Therefore, having established such a loyal base of independent distributors, Observé L Éssence can cut out the high overhead costs of middlemen and department store mark ups.

GREEN AND YELLOW: VINCE LOMBARDI WHAT IT TAKES TO BE #1

Due to the Green Bay Packers win!! I thought this would be appropriate: Enjoy.

"Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.

"There is no room for second place. There is only one place in my game, and that's first place. I have finished second twice in my time at Green Bay, and I don't ever want to finish second again. There is a second place bowl game, but it is a game for losers played by losers. It is and always has been an American zeal to be first in anything we do, and to win, and to win, and to win.

"Every time a football player goes to play his trade he's got to play from the ground up — from the soles of his feet right up to his head. Every inch of him has to play. Some guys play with their heads. That's O.K. You've got to be smart to be number one in any business. But more importantly, you've got to play with your heart, with every fiber of your body. If you're lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head and a lot of heart, he's never going to come off the field second.

"Running a football team is no different than running any other kind of organization — an army, a political party or a business. The principles are the same. The object is to win — to beat the other guy. Maybe that sounds hard or cruel. I don't think it is.

"It is a reality of life that men are competitive and the most competitive games draw the most competitive men. That's why they are there — to compete. To know the rules and objectives when they get in the game. The object is to win fairly, squarely, by the rules — but to win.

"And in truth, I've never known a man worth his salt who in the long run, deep down in his heart, didn't appreciate the grind, the discipline. There is something in good men that really yearns for discipline and the harsh reality of head to head combat.

"I don't say these things because I believe in the "brute" nature of man or that men must be brutalized to be combative. I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle — victorious."

- V. Lombardi

STORY ABOUT HOW LARRY HAHN GOT SCENTURA CREATIONS STARTED

Larry Hahn (in the range and private jet in the back ground), Doug, and Amy Su Zirbel

founder of Scentura Creations,
a Leading Provider of High-Quality Fragrance Products to Independent Distributors worldwide.

Introduction:
Larry Hahn grew up average... an average town, an average upbringing, an average talent, an average student...
He never gained much education or experience, and certainly wasn't the type that you'd predict would one day become one of the largest wholesale fragrance distributors in the world.

How It All Started
When Larry was in his late 20's, he was going from dead-end job to dead-end job, and living paycheck to paycheck. A reality that is all-too familiar for a lot of people, especially in economically difficult times like these.
Finally, he realized that he wasn't ever going to become a success working for someone else. He'd had enough, and decided he was going to build a business that would make not only himself successful, but would make the people that came to work with him successful as well.

A Simple Business
Since he didn't have much business experience, and had no technical skills to speak of, he needed a simple business idea. He realized that the simplest formula for a business is to purchase a product in bulk, and sell each item for a small mark-up. A basic business concept that required the one skill Larry actually had, the ability to talk to people.
Early on, Larry began purchasing housewares and other consumer goods in bulk lots. He used every dollar he could scrape together to purchase goods, and then distributed them to the public for a small profit.

Soon he had enough money to start purchasing larger wholesale lots and lease a warehouse space. At this point he knew it was time to start thinking about how to expand the business.

An Opportunity is Born
Larry believed in the idea that "the more people you help become successful, the more successful you'll become." And he knew that if he was going to expand his business, he needed to teach other people how to do what he does.
He immediately began bringing on new distributors, showed them how to move the product, keep the money and inventory straight, and become good business people.

Early Success
As business continued to grow, and more people came to work with him, he continued opening new offices and giving his distributors a chance to run their own business based on the formula he had taught them.
One of the keys to Larry's early success is that he fronted all the merchandise to the distribution centers. He was literally putting people into business for themselves on a handshake.

Scentura Creations
Soon, Larry decided it was time to make a change. He wanted to supply his offices with a product that was easier, more manageable, and more recession-proof. He went in search of a new product in an industry that could sustain growth over the long term.
When Larry decided to look into the fragrance industry, it was a perfect fit. With hundreds of millions in revenue annually, a long history of stability in the industry, and the fact that it's a smaller, light-weight product, he knew this is where he needed to be.

Scentura Creations was born, complete with its own line of high-quality rendition fragrances and a new trademark, Observe' L'Essence.

The fragrance products were immediately a hit, sales for his offices spiked dramatically, and the company hasn't looked back.

Still Going Strong
Having been in business for more than 35 years now, Larry has seen hundreds of people become millionaires using a simple business formula that he created so many years ago. He had this to say of the many years of success his business has seen...

"I never dreamed I would ever become as successful as I have. But what I'm most proud of is how many people I've watched start with nothing, literally nothing, learn this simple formula, and within just a short time, they're running their own business and living the life they always wanted. How much you help other people is the true measure of success."
